Feathered Tides is a group dance and performance piece inspired by the Great Salt Lake and the birds that rely on it as a critical stopover during migration, as well as local songbirds connected to the water pathways and ecosystems surrounding the lake. The project explores themes of migration, home, and belonging, drawing parallels between the journeys of birds and humans while raising awareness of the lake’s ecological health and the urgent need for conservation.

The performances will take place at Miller Park Bird Refuge, responding to its natural environment by incorporating movements and sounds drawn from both local songbirds and shoreline birds of the Great Salt Lake. Each performance will welcome a small, intimate audience who will wear headphones so as not to disturb the birds.

The piece is a 45-minute roving work where the audience is asked to walk along the trail as the performance gradually emerges. Each performance will welcome a limited audience of 9 people.
